anyway. i've been strangely preoccupied with nighttime walks lately. provo doesn't exactly have the warm darkness of the hometown, but all the lights and apartments and brown buildings have a certain glow at night. just last friday, i had nothing to do, but refused to stay in my apartment, so i put on my jacket, grabbed my keys (don't worry, mom, it had my rape whistle attached too) and wallet and walked out the door and down to center street.
oh you know.
no big deal.
haha. yeah. it kind of was.
you wouldn't really think center street is that far, but, it is.
for enough to give me shinsplints the next day, anyway.
but i enjoyed it a lot. i didn't even think much, but it was nice to just wander and observe. the cars turn faceless, the buildings are lit from within, and the pavement seems welcoming.
i just wish i wasn't in the city, because there's nothing like the augmented shadows under trees at night.
but anyway. i'd recommend it.
but i'd also recommend taking my course of action: when the hobo on the bench turns around and watches you walk down the street, hunch over and try and seem as unattractive as possible.
really. i think it worked for me.
