i have three new obsessions. and they are kind of weird.
1. accordians.
you can't deny they are so great. they sound great -- if you need proof, listen to "be calm" by fun. or "i'm actual" by the format -- and they look freaking awesome -- just glance at these people to your right. they seem so happy!! and you wonder why? because they have such wonderful instruments in their hands (not to mention marvelous dresses as well). maybe one day i'll learn to play one of these fantastic music-makers. but until then, i suppose i can just admire them.
2. shorts plus tights.
i don't know if i could ever dream of pulling this here outfit off, but i love it, for one main reason. THOSE PURPLE TIGHTS AND SHORT-SHORTS!!! (the shoes are incredible too. but we're not talking about them at the moment.) it just looks so.... indie or vintage or something. can you tell i'm not a fashion blogger? but i just had to share my love for this particular fashion statement.
goodness gracious. those shoes. i want to rip them off her 2-dimensional feet and clone them so i can have a million pairs for myself.
3. birds chilling on telephone wires.
it's late september. on my way to school, while i'm stuck at a red light that lasts for decades sitting behind twelve immobile cars, i glance up every now and then to view a great sight. dozens of birds are flitting around in the pre-sunrise light, socially interacting on the electrical wires above my head. it's very distracting, and sometimes i forget to move when the light is green. it's just so.. quaint. i wonder what they talk about up there.
4. the vintage.
so the reason i didn't include this fourth obsession in my opening statement was because this particular obsession isn't new at all. it's one of those continuing ones. you know. anyway. i just love love love old fashioned things -- fashion, music, hair, furniture, transportation, fabric, etc. i don't know what it is, but yard sales, Decades in salt lake, disco skating in orem, polariod cameras, antique stores, old movies, all hold a special appeal to me. i think i would have loved to have been born in the twenties or forties or sixties or something.
okay, so i have really eccentric obsessions that change often. who knows, tomorrow i could be consumed with thoughts of badminton, neck tattoos, and kilts.
