i'm scared.
and i shouldn't be.
my head hurts, like it has for forever.
my brain hit a glitch during a stress-filled and exhausting week.
not for the first time.
but still...
i'm scared.
on a brighter note, my ninth grade brother had his seop today where he chooses all his classes he'll be taking when he enters high school. being myself, i tried to influence his choices as much as i could. for the good. thankfully, he saw the light and is now in a gem of a class, american studies, combination honors us history and honors english, held every day instead of adhering to our A/B schedule, and possibly the hardest exclusively-sophomoric class one could take at my school. but, the hard is what makes it great, as the two instructors of that class often say. i think i made it through (mostly, anyway, i haven't quite finished yet) high school because of that class and the friends i made in it, the lessons i learned there, and the study habits i developed through taking it. also, mr. birrell is a crack-up. who could forget the bird clocks, soggy sandwiches, "i gots to know", "does it have anything to do with cloooothes?!" and "i was just thinking about bears...."?!?!?
exactly. nobody.
another bright note? MADRIGAL IS OVER. my lungs hurt, i have quite a few bruises, and i think i've become conditioned to start at the sound of change bouncing on the floor, but i survived. barely. and i've heard tell that madrigal is the final glue that cements the chamber choir family together, and i saw it happen before my eyes this week. what else could give us any desire after the fourth (and fifth, and sixth) day in a row of a bulldozing performance to stay up even later to talk, play games, and mess around with one another? nobody else in their right mind would be willing to give up a few golden moments of sleep to spend more time with the people they haven't been able to get rid of for a week. we may be crazy, but we love each other. somehow. now on to endless christmas gigs, mozart memorization and, ultimately, carnegie hall!
bring it on.
