I think I've discovered what's been missing. I haven't spent nearly enough time in quiet, nearly enough time alone, nearly enough time outside. And if responsibility didn't hold me to this place and to these actions like going to work and applying for jobs and planning for school, I'd be out of here and up in the mountains for the rest of summer.
But the wind against my window and the cars passing on the street say stay, so I stay. And feel just a little bit empty.
