i put on my coat, grabbed my mother's home-grown-sewn quilt, and stepped from the warmth of my home into the frigid utah winter night.
would you like to know why this experience was challenging?
i have a literal allergy to the cold. (no, i'm not hyperbolizing. it is a true condition. click here if you don't believe me: cold urticaria.)
but even considering how HAZARDOUS this venture was to my health (okay now i'm being facetious) would you like to know why i defied reason, and safety to step into mother nature's wintry grasp?
the stars were breathtaking tonight.
it was a tad too chilly to be able to fully contemplate my place in the universe without being distracted, but i marveled at the movement of the planets, the elusive colors that defy name, and how no patch of sky was truly black: if one only gazed at it long enough, faint dustings of cosmic illumination appeared no matter how dark the night originally seemed."if you hate the taste of wine
why do you drink it 'til you're blind?
why do you drink it 'til you're blind?
and if you swear that there's no truth and who cares
how come you say it like you're right?
why are you scared to dream of God
when it's salvation that you want?
you see stars that clear have been dead for years
but the idea just lives on..."
we are nowhere, and it's now -- bright eyes
