dorsal(endor)fins

lacrosse conditioning started on tuesday. my body hurts me.
today i arrived there late and missed the team running, so i ran on my own after the brutal team workout. and it was extremely enjoyable.
i'm not sure what it is that makes me enjoy running so much. there's something glittering in the heady intake of oxygen, blisteringly cold and sweetly painful. there's something rewarding in pushing myself to the limit, while reveling in the conquest of mind over body. the beat in my ears, the rush through my veins, the cadence of my breathing, and even the pulse of my thoughts all seem to match the incessant pound of my feet against the pavement, trance-inducing in its regularity. and as soon as i climb over the endurance wall all long-distance runners know so well, and as i approach my finish line, i come to realize i don't want to stop. but the temptation is too great, and i slow down. and the instant i stop, the pain sets in. and i fall into a languid stupor, spending hours on my computer, writing in my blog, and dreading to move.
darn you lactic acid.

also. with all the new music i keep getting, i'm just gonna keep putting up the names of a few of my favorite songs of the day, until i get tired of it.
lover of mine -- beach house
moth's wings -- passion pit
home -- edward sharpe and the magnetic zeroes
