pda is not okay.
there must be something about snow that just gets people all riled up, but lately it seems i've seen a more-than-average amount of the filth. it's gotten so bad that a day during which i don't come upon two tragically hormone-stricken teenagers exuberantly groping each other is a blessed rarity.
perhaps i'm just a negative person, or my subconscious is directing my internal bitterness at the single life towards those who most obviously don't live it, but i find the whole thing revolting. if you're in a relationship, congratulations. if you're in a relationship and you frequently kiss, congratulations. truly, i mean it. love is all a human can wish for. however, WE DON'T ALL NEED TO SEE IT.
truly, there are few experiences i face with more dread than that of walking alone in an empty hallway after school and hearing far-off giggling and perhaps an occasional thump from a stray limb being flung at the wall from the main writhing, tangled mass that once was two separate entities -- all issuing from a secluded alcove i realize i must pass to get to my destination. usually, i skid by the opening where the two passionate individuals are secreted as fast as i can, averting my eyes, pretending not to notice, and trying to obtain control over my gag reflexes. only once have i informed a slobbering couple where they might go should they desire to continue their public mating rituals, and i still treasure that memory to this day.
i honestly find pda as a cheap way of flaunting something that should be considered singular and special -- a relationship between two people. i don't care who you are, but coming within inches of making a baby in a public setting does nothing but advertise how much you, firstly, value the other person, and secondly, value your relationship. i liken it to standing naked in a crowd of people. just because you desire attention doesn't mean you have the right to give the rest of us recurring nightmares. just think about it, people.
is nothing private anymore?
