oh boy oh boy.
a year ago, i could have written pages about me and my best friends. chronicling all of our adventures, all of our quirks, all of our everythings, complete with a mountain of inside jokes and a planet's worth of pictures.
i still could--in fact, i could write probably even more now.
but i don't want to.
and not in the usual "i'm too lazy to do this right now." more like the "it would be hollow and weird if i wrote about it." and maybe it wouldn't, actually. but maybe it would, and i don't want it to be hollow and weird.
but what i will say is this.
maddie, melissa, and the lindseys have been best friends for YEARS. YEARS. we've fought and we've broken apart and we've gotten back together and we've laughed and we've cried and we've hurt each other and we've scared each other and we've helped each other and we've saved each other and we've changed each other. and we still do that, even though we live miles away from each other and haven't been all together in ages. growing up makes people drift apart, i guess, and we've certainly changed more this year than any other year in the past, and sometimes i wonder if it can take the strain. but we'll always be friends, i know that. is that some stupid, naive, junior high bff split the necklace thing to say? haha yeah it totally is. but i firmly believe that no matter where life takes us, even if we're no longer close, we will still be friends. seriously though! i can see it now. i'll bump into swenson or maddie or melissa in the street one day out of the blue, or maybe i'll be visiting some far-off country that one of them may be living in and i'll call whoever it may be up for the first time in months, or i'll send out a letter for old times sake, and somehow i can always see us going out to lunch. loving to spend time together, to catch up, hating to hear the bad news, aching for the good, and missing the old days.
but i must say, i hope it never gets that way.
i hope we stay close, though i am realistic. time and distance and life change people, and before you know it we could be (real life mature) adults. but i want to change together. is that super cheesy to say to? is it weird to say i want to have them come to me in a few years, begging me to meet their boyfriend, pulling me aside and asking if i approve of their ring? is it weirder to say i want to throw their baby showers and watch their kids grow up? well i'll say this it's certainly weird to be thinking about it.
can you believe it, guys?
we could be mothers, one day.
mothers.
SUPER WEIRD.
SOOOOOPERR WERIDD.DERD.
